I mean i could still run and shoot hoops with the younger guys in the neighborhood so i must be more like them and less like that guy living two doors down and needs a walking cane to make his daily journey to the mailbox. Right?

Well according to the most recent research, strokes are on the rise among people under 45 years old and actually declining among older people. You see, information is force fed to older folks about the dangers of high blood sugar and high blood pressure. The dangers of diabetes is practically NEVER taught to persons under the age of 25 unless they see their grandparents (or parents) suffering from the disease. Eating junk foods and fast food regularly contributes to this situation.

We have to start teaching our youth to eat better. This means making healthier food choices. Eating highly processed foods is creating a dangerous health situation among our children, a situation where childhood obesity is out of control. Eating a diet high in refined oils and processed starches is the source of this problem. Only by teaching a eating style which includes a high amount of veggies and fruits can we turn this problem around. EATING-VEGGIES.COM

RAW SUGAR IS ALKALINE!

There is a quiet controversy going on in the world of nutrition about the possible health benefits of raw sugar. Raw sugar is less processed than regular sugar and is assumed by most people to be healthier than the standard table sugar. But the truth is that the only real difference is that raw sugar contains molasses. Molasses is extremely nutritious and may leave trace amounts of nutrients that white sugar does not have. But if that's the case, why not use molasses as a sweetener?

Since raw sugar contains molasses, it becomes alkaline when digested. This is a definite positive when deciding upon sweeteners for your morning beverage. Adding and eating alkaline foods in our diet in high amounts is needed to maintain proper pH balance without robbing our own body for minerals such as calcium. Another alkaline option is Stevia. EATING-VEGGIES.COM

BECOME YOUR OWN HEALTHCARE PROVIDER

Well, it looks like healthcare is just about dead in the water. Which means you have to provide for yourself so to speak. But then that is how America was supposed to be: small government and hard working people. That's another conversation for other blogs so let's get back to healthcare.

1- Government Healthcare is DEAD in the U.S. At least that's what most income tax/property tax paying people in the United States are hoping. The tax burden would crush the middle class.

2- We have to start taking responsibility for our own personal health. You can't smoke, drink heavily and eat anything while expecting the taxpayers to absorb the medical cost of your poor choices. It's time to wise up! Consistently eating fast foods, deep fried foods and refined processed foods is killing us. From the inside out. ARE YOU LISTENING?

We have to increase the amount of vegetables and fruits in our diet or face a death of diabetes, heart disease and cancer. These odds can be greatly reduced by eating a high alkaline food diet. This means eating a diet daily of 50-80% alkaline foods. Find out which foods are alkaline

Oh yea, That healthcare bill. Maybe it ain't dead yet. Let's poke it with a stick and see what happens...

Randy Powell
Eating-Veggies.com

The Flip Side To An Alkaline Diet

People often think because they have to eat such a high volume of veggies and fruit while eating high alkaline meals that they cannot enjoy their favorite acid foods. This is not true. You can eat 100% whole grains and lean meats if you want to maximize your health. These are acid foods. If you choose to eat junk foods or fast foods while eating alkaline then that is your personal choice. These are also acid foods.

Hopefully the changes you will began to feel once eating so many alkaline foods will persuade you to optimize your diet by eating healthy acid foods. Processed, refined grains and starches are marketed heavily to the public and cutting out these choices can be difficult. Aim for eating 50 -80% a diet of alkaline foods daily. The remaining percentage can be the acid foods of your choice.

To Your Good Health,

Randy Powell
Eating-Veggies.com

LEARNING TO EAT ALKALINE

This is the answer to our health issues. This is one that i can testify for myself as my low carb/high alkaline lifestyle has helped me to burn off 85 pounds of ugly body fat! It also lowered my blood pressure to the point off not having to deal with those headaches anymore. Maybe the credit could go to the fact that i replaced most of my animal fats with healthy vegetable fats. Either way i feel much better.

I had tried low fat diets in the past and just didn't get the same fat burning results that i got eating low carb/high alkaline foods. I replaced refined wheat, rice and potato products with lots of veggies and fruits to keep me full. It can be rough in the beginning as your body tries to get used to the lower blood sugar levels and you experiment with how much food you need to keep you from being hungry. I simply ate more fruit early in the morning and between meals. My meals overflowed with veggies everyday as i watched my waistline slim down to a tolerable size.

I don't think you should eliminate all starches from your diet. I keep them to a minimum to allow my body to tap into its reserves of stored fat. As a former obese man who enjoys a good sandwich every now and then, i do eat 100% whole grain bread, just not everyday. Life is about balance. Eating a 50-80% alkaline foods lifestyle means that 20-50% of your food can be acid foods that you enjoy eating. Eat an abundant variety of veggies and fruits daily to help maintain balance in your life. EAT PLENTY OF ALKALINE FOODS

7 REASONS TO USE THE ALKALINE LEMON

Make sure you take advantage of the natural cures of lemons.

· Relieve Stomach Problems

Lemon can help relieve many digestion problems. The city wants to put a restriction on how much sodium is used in city restaurant and packaged foods. This is a major move forward as salt is a big contributer to the problem of hypertension or high blood pressure in the modern world. Older people (over 40 years) and blacks are at higher risk and should restrict their consumption to 1500 mg a day. NYC had already set guidelines for the use of trans fats in city eateries. High blood pressure plays a role in the millions of cases of "male" dysfunction that are found today.

Restricting sodium, sugars and bad fats is essential to living a healthy lifestyle. They are responsible for the majority of diabetes and high blood pressure cases in America. Heart disease is the number #1 killer of people in the United States and will continue to be until the government takes a firm stand against the food companies that add these killer ingredients. EATING-VEGGIES.COM

HEY, FAT BOY...

Yea, those words were branded into my mind by a co-worker several years ago. I was fooling myself into believing that i was a little chubby, not obese. The truth was that i was very close to 300 pounds and ignoring the problem (In Homer Simpson's daydreams, he is a well built, muscular man). Those words were one of the many momentum builders that finally got me off of my butt and start changing the way that i was eating. It was the start of letting a high alkaline diet change my life.

Losing weight effectively starts with changing your diet. I'm not talking about GOING on a diet but making a lifestyle change that makes your life different from what it was. It's easy to sit around and talk about making changes but talking means nothing. Being successful at anything means taking action NOW! Make your next meal full of veggies and fuits. Eat raw nuts in place of animal flesh in your salads and take advantage of the raw plant oils needed by your body. Don't wait till next week to make dietary changes, DO IT NOW! Eating a high alkaline diet really does change your life!

It wasn't easy learning how to eat healthier but by "only focusing" on eating healthier at each meal helped me to establish disciplines needed to make me lighter and healthier. When hurtful words are heard concerning your weight, take it as a personal hint that you need to make changes in your habits NOW. Don't get mad at others, just take action and start changing now. I lost 90 pounds by eliminating the starchy, refined carbs from my diet and replaced them with alkaline fruits and veggies. Try it for 30 days and watch your life change. Try Eating Alkaline Foods Everyday.

EAT TO FIGHT INFLAMMATION.

One of the most nutritious things you can do is eat a diet that fights against inflammation. Eating a diet of 50-80% veggies and fruit is naturally lower in calories but very rich in nutrition.

2- Most alkaline veggies and fruits are low in fat. Those that contain significant fat content are usually full of good fats. Avocados and olives come to mind. Frozen spinach is full of Omega 3 fatty acids.

3- Discover how Alkaline foods are lower on the glycemic chart, which is exactly what you want to lose weight. These foods breakdown much slower in the body in a way that promotes overall fat loss.

4- Consuming more veggies means less refined starches! These calorie dense processed wheats and grains keep us fat and diabetic. If you gotta have it then make sure it's made from "100% whole" grain.

5- Eating a high calorie, high acid food diet promotes inflammation in the body. Some researchers have stated that this may be the root of most disease. It does not promote fat loss and is very unhealthy.

A high alkaline food plan is essential for anyone who wants to slim down in time for the spring weather. You will burn more body fat and power up your immune system while eating your fill everyday of a wide variety of veggies and fruits. Changing your appearance starts from the inside and works outward so become more conscious of what you put into your body daily. Eat a High Alkaline Food Diet Everyday!

Turmeric, Fish Oil and Broccoli

These are the foods/supplements that are at the top of my personal list for my personal use. They are not the only supplements that i use, they're just at the top of my list of what i need to take consistently. Eating a high alkaline food diet everyday takes care of many of my nutritional needs. Its just a matter of eating a wide variety of veggies and fruits throughout the day. I shoot for 50-80% alkaline food daily which leaves me plenty of room for the acid foods i like to eat.

Turmeric is already well known as a dietary "must have" supplement. But here is what a lot of people don't know. Scientists tested turmeric, a concentrated source of the phytonutrient curcumin, along with phenethyl isothiocyanates, a phytochemical abundant in cruciferous vegetables including broccoli. When tested separately, both phenethyl isothiocyanate and curcumin greatly slowed the growth of human prostate cancer cells implanted in immune-deficient mice. In mice with well-established prostate cancer tumors, neither phenethyl isothiocyanate nor curcumin alone had a protective effect, but when combined, they greatly reduced both tumor growth and the ability of the prostate cancer cells to spread in the test animals. With these kind of cancer fighting abilites, it just seems like these foods are something i need to consume regularly.

Fish oil is something that everyone should already be taking. The multitude of postives has been printed everywhere, there isn't anything else to say. Eating more fish is what we need to concentrate on doing as opposed to taking fish oil supplements. Cooking and eating fish that is well seasoned is becoming a standard at my house but we won't eat it fried. Baked lemon-pepper Talapia is a favorite as is Salmon with garlic butter. Good seafood along with a boatload of alkaline veggies make this a popular way to optimize your nutrition. Eating a alkaline food diet

Breakin' the Rules

Man, did i throw the rule book out of the window or what? I ate like a man with absolutely NO knowledge of nutrition or dietary law. The rules of pH balance were totally ignored. And there are no apologies, the food was great.

Well i feel like s***. I'm sluggish and very low energy. My mind seems to be a half step behind but that could be after effects of alcohol. Lying on the couch and watching football seems to be all i want to do.

I need to make a strong mental note of how i feel right now after a day and a half of eating anything. The lightness i usually feel after eating a high alkaline diet was absent. I feel heavy and slow. I don't like this feeling. Natural health with a high alkaline diet

BURNING OFF THE HOLIDAY FAT

Back in the day when i first began to eat better, i did some research into possibly give the Atkins diet a try. It just didn't seem healthy so i made some adjustments. Instead of gorging on meaty, fatty foods in the place of starchy carbs, i simply substituted vegetables and fruit, raw nuts and beans. This is what lead me to finding more information about eating a high alkaline diet. These foods along with lean meat choices (if any meat at all) made for the type of diet that allowed me to drop about 85 pounds of UGLY body fat!

Now some people will tell you that it isn't healthy to follow a low carb diet. These people are probably employed in the wheat industry. Since i don't work in the fields all day long or train as an Olympic athlete, it makes NO SENSE to eat a lot of processed wheat, rice or potato products that will only keep my blood sugar jacked up all day long. We eat far too many calories everyday and the evidence is the spare tire that you wear around your midsection. I replaced the calorie dense starchy carbs with a wide variety of veggies daily to give my body the nutrients it needs without elevating my blood sugar needlessly.

Eating a diet of 50-80% alkaline foods daily will support your healthy body with quality nutrition to boost your immune system and optimize your body functions. This type of eating style DOES NOT support excess body fat and will began to burn this extra fuel as energy. As your diet becomes more pH balanced, you will experience more energy and began to feel lighter on your feet. You can really change your life with a high alkaline food diet

Office Party Snacks

Having a healthy, well tasting dip at the office party will make you popular on the planning committee for future events. Here we go. For the next 10-14 days we will have our will tested to the point of insanity on the scale of appetite. This is Thanksgiving spread out over many days. Dinner after dinner, party after party. The treats are all around and if you "treat" yourself ...its OK. Eating a high alkaline foods diet DOES NOT mean that you can't enjoy food. All you have to do is eat 50-80% of your food as alkaline food. That leaves plenty of room for your acidic favorites. So enjoy your life and the foods at the office party. REMEMBER TO EAT ALKALINE FOODS

COFFEE and PROSTATE CANCER

Well it looks like i jumped the gun again. I recently stopped drinking coffee except for the occassional cup of the 1/2 caffeine version sold by Folgers. Drinking WAY too much java was keeping me jittery and the headaches that would show up when i wasn't drinking it was unbearable. However, the latest link between coffee and reduced risk of prostate cancer may make me reconsider.

New research has discovered that drinking coffee along with increased exercise showed a decrease in aggressive cancer growth in prostate cancer cases. They don't believe it has anything to do with the caffeine as much as coffee's effect on glucose metaboplism. There appears to be several studies that show links between coffee drinking and reduced risk of diabetes. Coffee also is very high in antioxidants. FREE REPORT

So it it ok to drink a cup or two everyday, just not the 6-10 cups that i was drinking. And maybe i need to hit the stationary bike FAR MORE then i've been doing. This lifestyle along with a diet high in alkaline foods supplementd with turmeric capsules and omega-3 fish oil should really make my body closer to cancer proof. At least that's what i hope. What i do know is that a diet high in omega-6 oils leads to the inflammation that wreaks havoc in my body and may be the root cause of most disease. EAT MORE HIGH ALKALINE FOODS

Evaluating My Alkaline Diet Progress

Since losing 80 or so pounds of ugly fat, i feel obligated to evaluate or should i say "criticize" myself on my progress with sticking to the alkaline diet plan. To say it mildly, i am a "fat boy" at heart and I'm not beyond slipping back into my old dietary habits. It takes discipline to stay on track and it does not come without some serious effort. All it takes is the sight of a plate full of macaroni and cheese for me to slip into the sinful delight of culinary adultery!

My wife likes to call me while she is out shopping or running errands and will ask me if there is anything that she can bring me back home to eat (she doesn't care for cooking). Those are the moments that destroy my diet temporarily. I'm getting pretty good at turning down her offers by always keeping frozen veggies available for quick stir frying. My skills for Asian stir fry is becoming legendary and that always beats the oily. gravy-laden stuff that people today call Chinese food.

With all this stuff being considered, i think i am doing pretty well with my alkaline habits. Its been quite a while since i squeezed into size 40 waist jeans and my days as a 300 pounder is becoming a fading memory. The tingling in my hands and feet is gone and so are the headaches that i used to learn to live with. Overall i think it is fair to say that I'm doing pretty good.
EAT A DIET OF 50-80% ALKALINE FOODS

Mutated version of H1N1 is Drug Resistant

So you think that those synthetic medicines are going to save you from the dreaded Swine Flu? Well guess again as H1N1 has mutated and is drug resistant to Tamiflu. This is not a good thing as infected people are counting on Tamiflu to help them through the infection.

How long before the virus mutates even more and makes the vaccine ineffective?

Strengthen your immune system by eating whole foods and a diet high in alkaline foods. Your best hope against this devastating virus may be the food you eat and processed, refined junk foods are not the answer. Alkaline veggies and fruits along with healthy fats and fatty fish will keep your body strong enough to handle the stress of fighting the virus while making your illness short. BEAT H1N1 WITH AN ALKALINE FOOD DIET

BURNING BODY FAT WITH AN ALKALINE DIET

As a former fat guy with a lust for really good food, i can relate to a lot of people when it comes to trying to lose weight and keeping it off. I'm no different than anyone else when it comes down to avoiding foods that i know will add body fat. However the difference between success and being a lard butt is all about making choices and if you want to slim down and be healthy, you have to make the right choices when it involves your diet. For me the answer is eating an alkaline diet.

Eating a diet of 50-80% vegetables and fruits is a healthy way to get your body back to where it was in your younger years. It will normalize your weight while the reduced caloric intake will help reduce the inflammation in your body. this will also help minimize the odds of developing diseases such as heart disease and diabetes. These two diseases are responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths every year yet are not taken seriously enough by people in the western world.

The benefits of calorie restriction is very possible with an alkaline diet. Caloric restriction has been proven to be the only way to slow down the aging process. Eating a diet high in a wide variety of vegetables will help you to take in less calories everyday, keep you full, give you the nutritional needs your body wants and help you to stay regular in the bathroom. You will still be able to eat your favorite foods just as long as you keep your vegetable and fruit levels above 50% daily. EAT A DIET HIGH IN ALKALINE FOODS

The Flu and You

I always knew that a high alkaline diet was keeping my immune system strong but my current state of health proves it. I'm lying in bed with what at first appeared to be a bad case of the flu. It had all of the usual signs. Except when I woke up this morning the fever had broke. It had to be my good eating habits that made the difference.I still feel a little weak so I think I'll cut this short for today. My apologies. EAT ALKALINE

Fighting Cancer and Heart Disease

I was listening to the radio program "coast to coast am" last night and heard famous author Christian Wilde spreading knowledge about the effects of turmeric on inflammation. Christian Wilde is famous for his books on inflammation and heart disease and how inflammation is responsible foe most of the disease in the human body. If you simply buy a bottle of pharmaceutical grade turmeric and take it twice a day with meals, you can effectively reduce the odds of heart disease and cancer.

This is easy compared to eliminating your favorite cancer causing foods from your diet but reducing these foods is still something that has to be done. Taking turmeric along with omega-3 fish oils and a diet of 50-80% alkaline foods daily is the recipe for living a healthy life while minimizing the odds of death from the diseases that kill most of the people in the western world. Turmeric is becoming famous for its anti-cancer properties and should be consumed by every person who wants to optimize his or her health. Turmeric: Ancient Superfood?
