Where are you, H1N1?...

I read an article this morning about how the H1N1 scare was lessening in most states and cases have been reducing dramatically around the United States. Was this over-dramatized or did all the vaccinations really make a difference? Did H1N1 kill any more people than regular seasonal flu?

This is something to ponder as we prepare for the next viral scare...

Prepare your immune system by eating a diet high in a wide variety of veggies and fruits. Replace the refined starchy carbs in your diet with fresh veggies, fruits and beans.  Eat a High Alkaline Diet Daily

Swine Flu Protection

If you or a family member have become infected with influenza you should by all means quarantine yourself from the public by staying home from work or school. H1N1 is spreading rapidly around the western world and we must take precautions to minimize its effects. It is best to get ready before it hits your household.

Keep a storage of basic supplies. So here's what you should :

Keep Over The Counter(OTC) cold and flu remedies- these can be great to have on hand for treating minor cases of the flu.

Other prescription drugs and vitamins your family uses regularly- try to get refills as soon as you can, so you're not down to your last pill when the crisis comes. Liquid forms of nutrition are easier for your body to digest while sick.

Fluids with electrolytes- these can help keep sick people hydrated properly so they can recover faster and with fewer complications. Gatorade-type drinks are popular or get pedialyte for the smaller children.

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer- this is great for keeping your hands cleaner when soap and water aren't convenient. Clean hands are the best way to keep from spreading any infection to healthy family members.

Fever reducers for children such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen- fever is a major component of any kind of flu. Keep it under control. Call your doctor for recommendations.

Surgical masks- these are great just in case you're taking care of someone in your home with a highly-contagious flu like swine flu. They can help keep the rest of your family from getting sick too.

Keep a supply of food and household requirements that would last you a week or two - Businesses may close, just as schools do. Plan ahead for staying comfortably in your own home.
Buy foods that sick people may feel comfortable eating such as chicken noodle soup or dry crackers.

Stay home if you're sick, and keep your kids home if they're sick - You will be helping greatly if you ARE NOT spreading potential flu to other people. You're more likely to catch infections from other people if your immune system is not strong. If you are not sick yet you can prepare yourself by increasing the amount of alkaline foods into your diet and removing junk foods from your present lifestyle. So do yourself a favor and stay home when you're sick (and keep your kids at home when you're sick too). You'll recover faster if you rest, and will be less likely to get a secondary infection.

Make it a habit to wash your hands! - Every scientific study confirms that by far the best way to avoid infection by any virus or bacteria is to wash your hands often. Take this on as your newest, habit and teach your kids the same thing. It's easier now with alcohol-based hand sanitizer you can carry in your bag or keep at your desk.
Boost your immunity with a high alkaline foods diet!
