Many of the western world's health problems can become nearly non-existent by eating a High alkaline diet. Alkaline foods are mostly veggies and fruits. Defining a diet "high" in alkaline food would mean a diet of 50-80% alkaline foods. And for even more benefits, eat it raw.

Green Tea and Prostate Cancer
I was reading an article that reinforces our many reasons to drink green tea. It appears that active compounds in green tea may slow down the progression of prostate cancer in men. Of course Green tea is alkaline and it would be a great addition to your
high alkaline diet. Eating high alkaline foods (most are full of antioxidants) is an effective way to reduce your chances of developing cancer.
Researchers made capsules using green tea
polyphenols to lower the level of proteins that tumors use to grow. 26 prostate cancer patients were tested, aged from 41 to 68. Each took the equivalent to drinking 12 cups of green tea -- for about a month before they had their prostates removed. Blood tests showed levels of three proteins associated with the growth and spread of prostate cancer fell. Few side effects were reported and liver function of the patients remained normal. This is just a starting point toward developing a newer and safer treatment for this form of cancer. Researchers said that it may slow the cancer but it does not shrink tumors. More studies will be needed to get better results.
Many men postpone prostate exams until it is too late. If you are over 40 years old then it is time to do the inevitable. Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among American men. The American Cancer Society projects prostate cancer will be diagnosed in 192,280 men and will kill 27,360 in 2009.

High Alkaline Diet helps reduce inflammation
After all of the research that i have done and all the hours of reading, i am beginning to believe that most of the health problems in the modern world may be connected to our high consumption of Omega 6 fats and our low consumption of Omega 3 fats. We eat way too much omega-6 fats such as corn oil, sunflower oil and soybean oil. Americans are in love with deep fried junk foods and fat-filled fast foods. Inflammation is a condition that can be found in the joints, cardiovascular system and the brain. These Omega 6 fats are pro-inflammatory and can wreak havoc in the body when not eaten in equal balance with Omega 3 fats. Most people are walking around in a very pro-inflammatory state. This condition breeds disease.
Many of the food companies are selling food products with added Omega 3 fats. The marketing sells the healthy benefits of the Omega 3 fat naturally found in fish, flaxseed and
green leafy vegetables, among many other sources. Even with these additions, it would be best to also reduce your intake of processed and fast foods. These foods are very high in omega 6 fat. Replacing these foods with healthy alkaline vegetables and fruit will help improve your quality of life and overall health. Walnuts are also a very good source of omega 3 fats.
Eating a high alkaline foods diet rich in Omega 3 fats (such as the Mediteranean diet) can help your body fight off a variety of crippling diseases. A study recently completed at University Hospitals Case Medical Center looked at how supplementation with fish oil may affect the progression of Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's, researchers have found that high doses of DHA found in Omega 3 fats may prevent the formation of the plaque in the brain that some believe cause loss of memory and disease progression and also help prevent the brain inflammation that is associated with the disease.

Acai berry and its possible benefits
Over the years, there has been plenty of research documented that supports eating a diet high in antioxidants. There’s no doubt that vegetables and fruits are a big part of any healthy diet, especially one that is promoting fat loss. Vegetables and fruit that are rich in antioxidants are called superfoods and eating these foods is the best way to get your daily dose of antioxidants. Eating a diet high in alkaline foods is an effective way to get plenty of antioxidants into your body.
Medical scientists are learning more about the real power of
superfoods. It is clear that eating superfoods can have various positive health benefits. Acai berry is one of the highest ORAC value foods. Many people are touting the benefits of acai berry and making unfounded medical claims in order to generate sales. Despite the tall tales of miracles, Acai can be a nutritious food that can help you maintain a healthy body and build a strong immune system to fight off disease.
The best way to enhance your immune system is to tweak your diet. Load up on fresh vegetables and fruits like the acai berry for a sufficient supply of vitamins, minerals, fiber and enzymes. Acai contains antioxidants that protect the cells of your immune system from damage by toxins in the environment. Eating a variety of superfoods daily will help your body fight off bacteria, viruses and possibly cancer. Acai berry can be a very powerful contributer in the fight for health.

Soy Reduces Risk of Cancer
One of the reasons thai i endorse a high alkaline diet is that it will help reduce the risk of a variety of cancers. Doctors have said for years to greatly increase your consumption of vegetables and fruits to cut your risk of developing cancer. Recently i have discovered soy and have been adding it to my diet as a plant source of protein. I have been very intrigued by its effects on cancer cell growth.
Women, especially over-50s, who eat a lot of soy can "significantly" cut their risk of developing the disease, according to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Dietary researchers who studied the diet and health of 68,412 women aged 40-70 concluded: "After adjustment for age, birth calendar year and total energy intake, consumption of soy foods was significantly associated with a decreased risk of
colorectal cancer. We found that risk of
colorectal cancer decreased with increasing soy food intake, primarily among postmenopausal women."
The most recent findings may help explain why so many fewer people in asian countries such as China and Japan, where soy is a major part of their diet, develop bowel cancer compared with Western countries, where soy consumption is extremely low. Soybeans are often eaten whole as part of a meal and
soy is also used as an
alternative to dairy in products such as milk, yogurt and cream cheese. Researchers have also linked soy with helping to reduce levels of cholesterol.
Soy protein contains many essential nutrients. Medical researchers have stated for years that populations who regularly include soy protein in their diets and reduce meat intake are at less risk of developing cancer, especially breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men. The basic understanding about soy is that regular dietary intake reduces the risk of a variety of cancers, such as breast cancer, prostate cancer, and colon cancer.

Natural Health Through Living Foods
Springtimes usually brings about a renewal of dietary vows as people want to look good in their summer swimwear. After a long winter of eating warm home cooked meals, it may be time to focus on eating cool, raw fresh alkaline veggies and fruits. For me that means more salads. I am extremely imaginative when creating my fruit and veggie salads. I feel more energetic and light on my feet when i have been eating a lot of salads over the course of a few days.
I don't personally endorse a totally raw foods diet but if it works for you then so be it. There is a strong argument that cooking destroys foods and makes them toxic.Between 50 and 80 percent of the vitamins and minerals are destroyed when some foods are cooked. Pesticides and oils break down into even more toxic compounds, which are more easily absorbed into our bodies. Free radicals are produced and cancers are formed.
With all the research available, i still have trouble embracing a totally raw food diet. It is well known from scientific research that heat breaks down vitamins, amino acids and changes proteins to the point where it is NOT usable by the body. This is found particularly in meat and meat products. When food is cooked above 117 degrees F for three minutes... or longer, it becomes becomes less and less nutritious to us.
Disease is caused by toxicity and deficiency of needed nutrients. This is caused by the choice we make to eat foods that are unnatural and missing essential nutrients. The problem is easily solved by removing the toxic and deficient conditions from the body so that the body can heal itself, fight off illnesses, and remain in optimum health. Eating more whole plant foods and taking quality supplements with your meals could help your body rejuvenate itself and become healthier.
With all of that being said, i still continue to eat cooked meals and love the flavor of good cooked food. I will compromise and try to fit more raw veggie salads into my meal plans and i will snack on more raw fruits during the day. Eating cooked vegetables is better then not eating any at all but a real effort must be made to eat them in their natural form. But the truth is that the modern world was raised on hot meals and it will be a hard habit to break. If we can stick to eating a high alkaline food diet and eat a large raw salad everyday then for most of us this is progress.

Women, Colon Cancer and Alkaline Foods
The evidence continues to mount as research study after research study carves the truth in stone: we must eat a a high alkaline, high fiber diet to fight cancer. A recent study was done on women and colorectal cancer. It has been discovered again that women who eat a lot of processed meats, red meat, refined grains, fats and sweets could be increasing their chances of developing colon cancer.
The study involved 76,402 women ages 38 to 63, with no history of cancer. The women were classified according to their eating habits. Those women whose diet included lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, lentils, beans peas, poultry and fish were classified as following a “prudent” diet. Women who ate more processed and read meats, white pasta,
white breads, white rice, desserts, high-fat dairy products and French fries were classified as following a “western” diet.
Following an alkaline food diet, which include healthy foods such as fruits and vegetables, olive oil, nuts and legumes can be a heart-healthy way to feed your family. Eating a diet of 50-80% alkaline foods allow you room to eat acid foods that you adore and sometimes crave. Eating 100% whole grain will provide you with the fiber needed to push out harmful toxins and other contaminants from your bowels while veggies and fruits supply needed vitamins and minerals that strengthen your immune system to combat free radicals. This helps to minimize the formation of polyps and the development of colon cancer.

Calorie Restriction with Alkaline foods
I tuned into the Oprah show a few days ago just in time to hear Dr. Oz talking about how calorie restriction can slow the aging process. Several other supporters of this dietary style also spoke. This
anti-aging research has been proven to work in nearly every species tested, from worms to primates. Studies involving humans show extremely positive results as demonstrated on the show.
Eating a diet high in alkaline foods will help you to eat less calories while satisfying your nutritional needs. Alkaline foods are packed with vitamins, minerals and
phytochemicals needed to maintain a healthy, young rejuvenated body. These foods are generally low in calories and can be eaten in abundance daily to stay full but without
adding any fat to your belly.
