Obesity in the 21st century appears to be acceptable in America. I’m not talking about the morbid obese. That’s a whole different ballgame. I’m speaking of those people who 20-60 pounds over what they should be weighing. Most of this obesity problem is the result of a poor diet that is designed to make you always want to eat MORE. America has become a joke globally as the world laughs at our ever expading waistlines and blue jean sizes. We KNOW that we should be eating much better yet choose to blindly make food choices that are quickly leading us to sickness.
Refined sugar is considered a poison because it has been depleted of its valuable enzymes, vitamins and minerals. What is left after processing consists of pure, refined carbohydrates. The body cannot utilize this refined carbohydrate without the original proteins, vitamins and minerals. This toxic substance is known to wreak havoc throughout the body and does it on as little as a teaspoon a day. It also is known to disrupt pH balance in the body. Sugar is to be avoided, not only by the obese but by healthy individuals.
Sugar eaten every day keeps your body in an acid state and more minerals are needed from the body to achieve proper pH balance. In order to protect the blood, calcium is taken from the bones and teeth. Excess sugar eventually affects every organ in the body. Initially, it is stored in the liver in the form of glucose (glycogen). When the liver is filled to its maximum capacity, the excess sugar is returned to the blood in the form of fatty acids. These are taken to every part of the body and stored in designated areas: the buttocks, the belly, the breasts and the thighs.
Here are some sugars that are “un-processed”. Consider using them first.
- Dried fruits like dates or raisins
- Pure cane juice
- Raw, unprocessed cane sugar
- Agave syrup
- Raw honey
