When choosing which foods that you want to eat every meal, do you consider the nutrients that your body needs or do you eat for taste? Feeding your body well at every meal is important and unfortunately we are programmed to lust hungrily over foods full of processed sugar and fats. Give your body the raw fruits and raw veggies that it needs every meal to grow and repair itself. If you don’t then you are probably looking at a future of diabetes and heart disease.

You can’t assume that eating well every now and then is going to be enough because it isn’t. You have to be consistent. I didn’t say perfect. Eating a diet of 70% alkaline foods daily leaves room for acid foods that you love to eat. Just don’t get stupid and over-indulge in bad foods or unhealthy foods. There are healthy acid foods that you can eat. Just keep it around 30% of your daily food intake. Alkaline foods are healthy

Join Our FaceBook Alkaline Diet Community

Remember all the hype we had to hear about the threat of the swine flu, bird flu, Spanish flu etc, etc, etc. Well the real threat in America is caused by the food we buy at the grocer or even worse, “fast food” restaurants and it has already affected some 70 to 100 million American adults (pre-diabetics and Type 2 diabetics). Doctors refer to the pre-condition caused by these processed foods as metabolic syndrome, insulin-resistance syndrome or the most popular name: pre-diabetes. If you have it and don’t do a dang thing about it, you’ll be well on your way to developing full-blown diabetes and a bunch of other health problems.

Pre-diabetes is a condition which blood glucose (sugar) levels are elevated beyond normal but are not considered high enough to indicate type 2 diabetes Many medical based studies on people with pre-diabetes reduced the risk of developing diabetes by more than half when they lowered the fat and calories in their diet, started exercising regularly and made a real attempt to lose weight. A person with pre-diabetes is likely to have full-blown diabetes within just a few years unless they make some serious lifestyle changes. By exercising regularly and losing weight, the risk of diabetes can be lowered by 60 percent. In fact, research shows that exercise and weight loss can prevent diabetes even better than diabetes medications.

Here are things you must do to beat Pre-diabetes:

Reduce total fat and especially processed fats. If your diet is high in fat, especially saturated fat or trans-fats, then you are more likely to develop pre-diabetes. Eat fewer than 30 percent of your calories from fat and less than 10 percent from saturated fat to improve your ability to use the insulin you produce.

Reduce your overall calories count. If you lose just 5 to 10 percent of your weight, it will improve you insulin sensitivity and lower your blood sugar. Reduce the processed wheat and sugars that you typically eat in one day.

High fat, Over-Processed foods include fast food burgers and cheese, ground meats like sausage and many convenience foods like frozen pepperoni pizza and chicken pot pie. High saturated fat foods come from animal fat, like butter, cheese, fatty meats like prime rib and hot dogs, poultry skin, and ice cream. Processed fats are an unhealthy fat created by the food industry. They are found in processed foods like cookies, cakes, pies, crackers, and most fried foods including French fries.

Eat the right amount of carbohydrates. Insulin sensitivity improves when 50 percent to 55 percent of your total daily calories come from carbohydrates. That’s roughly 250 grams of carbohydrates on 2,000 calories a day. Get your carbohydrates from unprocessed and unrefined foods as much as possible. Examples include vegetables and fruit and dried beans.

Eat omega-3 fatty acids. While saturated fats make it difficult for your body to use insulin, omega-3 fatty acids generally improve insulin sensitivity. Avoid omega-6 fats and drastically increase your good sources of omega-3 fats including salmon, herring, sardines, flax seeds, flax seed oil, and walnuts.

Limit alcohol. Keep this under control as alcohol increases blood sugar levels. Women should have no more than one drink a day while men should have no more than two. If you do not currently drink alcohol, do not start up for the sake of preventing diabetes.

Eat 20 to 35 grams of fiber every day. A high fiber diet improves insulin sensitivity by slowing down digestion of carbohydrate digestion. High-fiber foods create a more gradual rise in blood sugar when compared with refined foods. Good sources of fiber are beans, lentils, vegetables, whole fruits, oats and bran. When reading the food label, look for at least 5 grams of fiber per serving.

Pre-diabetes is more than just escalating rapidly in this country because obesity is on the rise. It is way out of control! The best plan to prevent pre-diabetes from developing into full-blown diabetes is to lose weight and exercise regularly. Even if you lose only 7 percent of your body weight, you will reduce your risk of developing Type 2 diabetes by 58 percent, according to medical researchers. Buy yourself an exercise DVD and workout regularly. Make it consistent as this will save your life!

There are several supplements on the market that some diabetics and pre-diabetics will swear help improve insulin sensitivity which enables the body to use less insulin to efficiently control blood sugar levels. Do your own research on Google or ask your healthcare provider what he or she thinks about these supplements. You probably won’t need to take more than a couple of these supplements to find if they can be effective.

Alpha-lipoic acid- European doctors have used this anti-oxidant for decades to treat diabetic nerve disease and improve insulin function. It might also help reduce appetite. Take 300-600 mg daily.

Cinnamon- As little as 1 gram a day may provide better insulin sensitivity.

Chromium- This mineral helps insulin control blood sugar levels, and studies have found that it can significantly improve glucose tolerance. Take 400-1,000 mcg of chromium picolinate daily.

Magnesium- High intake of magnesium may improve glucose tolerance and diabetes. Take 300-400 mg of magnesium citrate daily.

Vitamin D- Vitamin D supplements may reduce the long-term risk of diabetes. Take 800 IU of vitamin D, plus 1,200 mg of calcium daily.

Do what you must to slow down or eliminate this debilitating disease. So many people don’t want to cut back on the foods that have helped this disease become a problem. They think that as long as they continue to take their medications that everything will be under control. This is far from the truth because when you don’t combat this disease through diet and exercise, you will eventually lose! Avoid eating processed sugar, starches and fats while you are diagnosed as pre or type 2 diabetic. Adopt eating a high alkaline foods diet which means eating lots of raw veggies, raw fruits or raw nuts and eat small meals throughout the day. You will find that keeping low to moderate blood sugar levels actually make you feel better! Alkaline Foods can Improve Type 2 Diabetes

Join my FaceBook fan page

What healthy food meets energy and protein needs, delivers anti-inflammatory, antioxidant polyphenols, burns body fat, and helps control blood sugar levels? The answer is beans and lentil. Beans contain the highest percentages of resistant starch, followed, at some distance, by whole, unrefined grains. This means that these “resistant” foods breakdown very slowly, thus avoiding any spiking of blood sugar levels. Beans are a superfood meaning they are rich in fiber, protein, minerals and vitamins yet low in fat and cholesterol free. Diabetics and those people interested in weight loss find value in beans because beans have a very high fiber content as well as a low glycemic index.

Scientists consider a starch as resistant if it resists digestion in the small intestine and ends up in the large intestine as more of a fiber. The fiber in beans helps to feel full, while promoting a healthy digestive tract and helping to lower blood cholesterol levels. Although they may be carbohydrate rich, beans can be extremely healthy in maintaining overall basic health.

Whether you prefer kidney, pinto, navy, or black beans, you can’t find better nutrition than that provided by beans if you have diabetes or for that matter, Pre-Diabetes. They are very high in fiber, giving you about 1/3 of your daily requirement in just 1/2 cup and are a very good sources of magnesium and potassium. Even though they are considered starchy vegetables, a 1/2 cup provides as much protein as an ounce of meat without the saturated fat. To save time you can use canned beans, but be sure to drain and rinse them to get rid of as much of the “blood-pressure raising” sodium as possible.

The reason this may be very beneficial for diabetics is that these resistant starches lowers glycemic response and helps reduce the insulin spikes that often follow the ingestion of simple carbs and sugars.

Which Beans are Low-Glycemic?

Lentils

White Northern Beans

String Beans

Red Kidney Beans

Black-Eyed Peas

Most Beans…

When beans are added to the diet, they help with weight normalization for several reasons. Beans are very high fiber, they increase fat-burning potential after you eat them, and they act as natural starch blockers. As an added benefit, beans also have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Beans are being replaced by rice in many developing third world countries. For this reason, diabetes is soaring in these countries at record-breaking pace. Beans compared with rice contain much more fiber, certainly more protein and they typically have a lower glycemic index — meaning they induce much lower insulin responses. There is nothing wrong with eating rice but is much healthier when beans are the dominant plant based food on your plate.

Spicy Black Bean soup

Ingredients:

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 onion, chopped

4 cloves garlic, chopped

1 teaspoon cumin

3 teaspoons chili powder

1/2 teaspoon oregano

3 – 15 ounce cans black beans

black pepper, to taste

salsa

shredded cheese

fresh chopped basil

Heat oil in large pot over medium heat. Add onion, cook 5 minutes. Stir in garlic, cumin, chili powder and oregano.

Puree one can of black beans, add to pot. Add second can of black beans (do not puree). Drain last can of black beans and add to pot (do not puree).

Reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring often. Add black pepper, to taste. Top with shredded cheese.

Consider eating more bean recipes daily so that you can enjoy the health benefits of this ancient food. And let’s not forget the great flavor of the hundreds of different dishes you can fix for your family. Control your Diabetes and Blood Sugar with Alkaline foods

FREE ACCESS: Advantages of a Plant Based Diet

The popular attitude among people i speak with is that losing weight and keeping it off is difficult or impossible to do. All those diet plans with the ready-made meals and superstar spokespersons don’t really work well if you can’t afford it. You may as well just go to the grocery store and buy the things that you really need to nourish your body! It’s not hard when you know that the majority of what you should be eating is veggies, fruits and nuts. And when possible, eating them raw is an acceptable option.

Always make it your focus to eat a variety of these raw foods every day. Different veggies and fruits have different phytonutrients that work at the cellular level to maintain a disease free body. So exercise your option of selecting the large garden salad instead of that steak and fries entree that will wreak havoc in your digestive system. The salad contains more of what your body needs to get nutrients to your cells and reduce inflammation. Fighting to reduce inflammation in the body should be the focus of all people concerned with being healthy.

Eating more raw foods really does help reduce inflammation and causes fat loss by not giving you unneeded calories to process. Most superfoods are raw veggies and fruits and are designed by nature to make our body function optimally. If you want to control your blood sugar levels and lose belly fat then try eating 80% of your meals as raw veggies, raw fruits or raw nuts and be sure to eat a wide variety for optimum nutrition! Reverse Diabetes and Obesity with a diet high in raw alkaline foods

“Like” my FaceBook Fan page!

These seven foods eaten in abundance along with a wide variety of alkaline foods can really charge up your sex life! Don’t let a diet high in processed meat and processed wheat mess up your sexual health. Achieve pH balance by eating a diet high in alkaline foods and don’t go overboard on your acid foods. You want to maintain a balance of roughly 70% alkaline foods daily. Eating like this at every meal and physical exercise daily is the formula for a log and healthy sex life.

Red Chili Peppers contain Capsaicin, a chemical found in the pepper that increases blood flow and stimulates nerve endings so you’ll feel more sexually responsive. Eat lots of red hot peppers!

AVOCADO contains vitamin E that helps your body produce hormones like testosterone, estrogen, and progesterone, which circulate in your bloodstream and stimulate female sexual responses like clitoral swelling and vaginal lubrication.

BANANAS are loaded with potassium and various versions of Vitamin B which are said to be essential in the function of sex hormones.

GARLIC eaten regularly can help men who have problems with male “dysfunction”. Eat 4-6 cloves a day. Increases blood flow.

DARK CHOCOLATE contains the chemical phenylethylamine, a stimulant that conjures just the sort of subtle feelings of well-being and excitement resembling the feelings of love.

POMEGRANATE owes its passion power to antioxidants, which protect the lining of blood vessels, allowing more blood to course through them. One of the many benefits is increased genital sensitivity.

WATERMELON contains the phytonutrient L-citrulline, which leads to an increase in the amount of nitric oxide in your body. That surge of Nitric oxide causes blood vessels to relax and improve sexual response in men. As a result, you’ll get more aroused in less time.

Eating a diet that is healthy and nutritious should be your goal at every meal. By becoming lazy and content with not getting in physical exercise, we gain weight and become unfit. Our eating habits and drug or alcohol addictions make matters worse. Before you know it, you have high blood pressure or diabetes. This has become the case for millions of Americans and millions more who don’t even know it yet.

It is very important that you focus every day to eat plenty of raw alkaline veggies and fruits. Eating raw nuts such as pecans, raw almonds and walnuts can give you a healthy dose of good fats. My personal favorite is raw cashews. Avoid processed meats and processed wheat.

I’ve been really focusing on eating a very high raw food diet these past few weeks. Its not nearly as bad as i thought it would be. I seem to be hovering at about 70-80% raw food daily as some veggies just taste better cooked. I like veggie burgers so that would be something that i would eat with a big salad or an assortment of raw veggies surrounding a rice and bean dish. I try to do something different every day.

Eating a diet high in raw alkaline veggies, fruits and nuts is the choice that i have made to avoid developing diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Hopefully as i lean towards eating more organic food, i will reduce the chances of developing cancer tumors in my body. There are so many people who simply don’t care about the way they look or the food that they put into their mouths and that is a real shame. This is not as hard as people make it out to be. This is really about being smart and not thinking with appetite. I am eating to live!

I met a raw foodist who suggested i try eating raw oats with almond milk, similiar to the way we eat regular breakfast cereal. It wasn’t really that bad, sweetened with stevia of course. Actually it was a great change of pace as i am getting bored with raw fruit for breakfast. I need to look into other ways to make my raw food experience positive and satisfying.

To your good health,

Dark Chocolate – Packed with antioxidants, including polyphenols and flavonols, dark chocolate is actually good for the heart! Dark chocolate improves blood flow and may help prevent the formation of blood clots. Eating dark chocolate may also prevent arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries).

Tumeric – This yellow spice, often found in Indian cooking, is considered to be both an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. Studies have also shown it can help fight cancer and Alzheimer’s.

Sweet Potatoes – Sweet potatoes are high in the following: beta-carotene, vitamin A, vitamin B6 and vitamin C; fiber, thiamine, niacin, potassium and copper. They are also a good source of protein, calcium, vitamin E.

Quinoa – Quinoa is a gluten-free grain that is a vegan source of complete protein. It’s a great alternative to rice, and can also be added to salads.

Mushrooms – These are a good source of conjugated linoleic acid, which has been shown to block aromatase, a protein that causes estrogen development in women. They are also high in fiber and protein, along with B vitamins to help maintain a healthy metabolism.

Kiwi – One large kiwi is delicious and loaded with the daily requirement of vitamin C. kiwi fruits contain about as much potassium as bananas, and also contain 1.5 times the DRI for Vitamin C. It is also a good source of fiber and vitamins A and E. Of course, eaten in its raw form it can offer phytonutrients, folic acid, calcium, chromium, copper, iron, magnesium and zinc.

Mustard Greens –Fresh mustard greens are an excellent source of many important anti-oxidants and minerals like vitamin C, vitamin A, vitamin E, carotenes as well much needed minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, zinc, selenium, and manganese. Mustard greens actually have more vitamin A, vitamin K, and flavonoid anti-oxidants than many commonly consumed fruits and vegetables.

It is extremely important that you eat a diet high in raw alkaline foods every day. Meat based diets promote acidity in the body and you must overload on plants and good fats if you want to win the battle against diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Fight disease with alkaline foods

FREE Tips: Get Healthy with Raw foods!

I’ve been experimenting with eating a high raw food diet lately and have been very surprised at how it makes me feel. The real surprise comes when you go back to eating cooked food and realize how lousy it makes you feel. It means that I have to make that double serving of mac and cheese something that I do only on family holidays. Eating a diet high in raw alkaline foods is not something that comes easy for me. I’m just a regular guy with southern roots and very much likes an occasional piece of southern fried chicken or sweet potato pie. To put it mildly, I like good food! So to eat a high percentage of my daily food intake as raw veggies, raw fruits or raw nuts is kind of difficult.

The benefits that I have discovered while eating an abundance of raw veggies and fruits is many and has kept me very interested in possibly converting to 100% raw foods. The feeling of high energy and being light on my feet is a great reason to eat a diet high in raw alkaline foods. The reasons that I eat the way I do are many but I guess the number one reason would have to be fear of disease. Diabetes, heart disease and cancer have been around me all my life and I just don’t want to grow old the same way so many others have aged. If diet and exercise are the best way to slow aging then that is what I will have to do, despite the old dietary habits that I struggle with that make this a battle every day.

The power of raw foods is found in phytonutrients. These bio-chemicals found in living plants work within our cells repair and optimize our body functions at the molecular level which helps in slowing the aging process. Dietary researchers have been studying the effects of food fortified with phytonutrients for some time now and have been very excited about the results. One important study of people with high cholesterol found that eating less than an ounce of margarine fortified with plant sterols (phytonutrients) every day could lower LDL cholesterol by 14%. The results were published in The New England Journal of Medicine, a very reputable medical publication.

As I mentioned before, research on this subject has been extensive and thorough. There is a definitive advantage to eating a boat-load of raw plant food daily. A more recent study from the University Of California Davis Medical Center looked at the effects of sterol-fortified orange juice. Of 72 adults, half received regular orange juice and half the sterol-fortified OJ. After just two weeks, the people who drank the phytonutrient-fortified juice had a 12.4% drop in their LDL cholesterol levels. The results were published in the journal Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis, and Vascular Biology. Now I recommend that you try a high raw foods diet for more than two weeks. Matter of fact, I suggest you attempt it for at least 30 days. It will take that much time to detox your system and began experiencing the way your body was created to perform.

There is a big nutritional difference between cooked food and raw food. The enzymes, vitamins and minerals found in raw alkaline foods, especially the greens, are organic minerals. They are very much different from the inorganic minerals in cooked and processed food. This means that they are much easier to absorb. There are lots of people who are raw foodist whom believe that organic greens have as much as 50 times the amount of nutrients that conventional greens have. You would have to eat much more cooked food to get the same amount of nutrition found in raw veggies, fruits, nuts and seeds. These foods are what your body is biologically adapted to eat and should make up the majority of what you ingest every day! You can add healthier foods to your diet slowly. You can try something new every week. Whatever works for you and your family members. Attempt to eat 8-10 different types of fruits and vegetables daily. The goal is to eat about 70% of your diet as raw alkaline foods and increase your odds of beating diseases such as diabetes and obesity.

Most doctors and health research experts recommend that you consume 2 grams of plant sterols every day to lower LDL (bad) cholesterol. Plant sterols do not lower HDL (good) cholesterol levels, and they do not interfere with cholesterol-lowering statin medications. This is good information to know if you are interested in progressing toward eliminating cholesterol-lowering prescription drugs from your life. Eating a raw food diet normalizes many body functions such as blood pressure, blood glucose levels and of course cholesterol. Try incorporating much more raw foods into your diet several weeks before your next doctor visit and see how it affects your overall health. My guess is that your healthcare provider will be very happy as you will probably have better health and a slimmer waistline! Eating raw alkaline foods can beat diabetes and obesity

FREE ACCESS: Alkaline Breakfast Recipes

Unfortunately, the population of North America has taken a deaf ear to hard dietary fact. We have made a bad habit of listening with our taste buds and have poorly judged what evidently has to be common sense. Doctors around the world have told millions and millions of people that eating a diet high in vegetables and fruits is extremely important in preventing the development of most forms of cancer. Our need for an assortment of veggies several times a day, every day is pretty much written in stone yet the popular attitude of the public is to turn their nose away from the obvious. Yet here in America, we continue to shovel down the majority of our food in the form of acidic, deep-fried junk. All the while diabetes, heart disease and cancer cases are at an all-time high. And if you hadn’t noticed, the average age of the sufferers of these diseases are getting younger.

Consistently consuming large amounts of alkaline veggies and fruits every day is considered a high alkaline foods diet. Eating a high alkaline food diet is what I like to call a “anti-cancer diet”. If more people would eat 50-80% of their daily meals in the form of alkaline food, we could reduce the number of people who suffer from these diseases that are linked directly to diet. The fast food giants invest hundreds of millions of dollars into brainwashing good people to poison their children with processed fats and processed sweeteners. Watching television has a lot to do with the constant barrage of advertisements that have a direct effect on your spending dollars. This is what the Public chooses to eat! You can only help those who want to help themselves and avoid the diseases that killed their grandparents. Change your health with a High Alkaline food diet
