How can an Alkaline Diet Cure Cancer?

Alkaline Diet Tips

The biggest of all controversies related to the Alkaline diet is if it cures Cancer. There are cases where someone with cancer made certain dietary changes and it helped heal their cancer. These cases number in the thousands and the changes in diet may have only “helped” the medical procedures to become even more effective. But to say that the Alkaline style of eating can cure cancer, well I have to say no.

A diet high in lots of veggies and some fruit can greatly enhance the healing power of the Immune system. It can also be a very big help in preventing or at least, lowering your odds of developing the disease.

Eating a diet high in vegetables can enhance health.

Eating an Alkaline diet is good but you may want to be cautious with fruit if you have cancer. Fruit sugar (fructose) is known to speed up the growth of cancerous cells which means you should keep it to a minimum. Keeping sugar and starches to a low percentage is important when fighting cancer growth.

Acid-forming foods such as wheat, rice and corn should be limited to less than 10% of your diet so not to give cancer tumors the excess sugars that they need to grow. Some researchers say that you shouldn’t eat these sugar sources at all. It is always best to discuss any questions with your healthcare provider to see how it can help your current treatment.

The Alkaline diet involves eating a diet of 60-80% alkaline-forming foods such as most fresh fruits, vegetables, roots, some nuts, and legumes while restricting the amount of acid-producing foods you eat. Acid-forming foods such as meat, grains and dairy products should be kept to a minimum.

There are certain types of vegetables such as the cruciferous family of veggies, that are nutrient-dense and contain Cancer fighting phytonutrients, according to the National Cancer Institute. These vegetables include popular favorites such as broccoli, turnips, brussels sprouts, kale, collards, arugula, cabbage, bok choy. and cauliflower.

Broccoli is a very nutritious food.

The best thing to do is to eat an abundance of different veggies every day and there will be no question if you are eating enough veggies to “cancer-proof” your body. Lower your odds of developing cancer by eating a diet high in veggies daily.

The End of the Alkaline Diet Controversy?

EatingVeggies on Facebook

I am amazed at how many people miss the point on the way that an Alkaline diet actually works. I guess its just human to make a situation more complicated than it really has to be. You don’t have to measure your pH every few hours or become so concerned about avoiding ALL acid-forming foods to the point where eating becomes a chore, That’s not what this is all about. The Alkaline diet DOES NOT change your pH in your body. That is not why you should be eating this way. Your body handles its pH balance without your help. Vegetables Eating a diet of 60-80% Alkaline-forming foods is a diet that consist of eating a wide variety of vegetables and fruits every day. Most vegetables and fruits are alkaline but check out an alkaline food chart to see which ones are acid-forming. Everyone knows that you are eating healthy when you are eating this many plant foods daily so why all the fuss about it NOT having benefits. The truth is… we are better off eating this way to prevent disease. Most vegetables and fruits contain phytonutrients that are essential to our immune defense and should be a part of any nutrient dense diet.

An Alkaline eating style doesn’t mean that you can’t eat acid-forming foods like meat or dairy. That is your own personal choice and you have the freedom to make your own dietary choices. But as long as the majority of your diet consist of an abundant assortment of fruit and vegetables then you will probably become healthier than most of your friends and family! This is what is great about the freedom of eating Alkaline foods consistently. You don’t have to eliminate any particular food group unless YOU choose to. Keeping your Alkaline food intake between 60% – 80% leaves you room for that slice of apple pie or chocolate cake. Eat most of your daily diet as Alkaline foods

Skin Care And The Alkaline Diet

A diet high in Alkaline-forming foods has been known to help relieve various physical ailments and can be an effective skin care diet plan. Nutrient-dense alkaline veggies and fruits have been known to contribute to healthier hair and clearer skin. The “so-called” theory is that when the body eats too many acidic foods that it becomes acidic. This is not true! The body automatically balances its own pH through the use of stored minerals. The human body maintains proper pH balance no matter what you have been eating.

By NOT eating a lot of Acid-forming foods, you can make it much easier for your body to accomplish the task of balancing pH. Acid-forming foods don’t give the body what it needs to maintain a slightly alkaline environment. Eating a diet high alkaline-forming foods helps your body to stay in proper pH balance easier by providing needed nutrients to help the body do its job.

The old saying “You are what you eat” is very true. If you eat foods that are healthy for humans then you will most likely become healthy. Getting Alkaline diet benefits for clearer and younger looking skin makes perfect sense when you understand which foods your diet will require. A diet of 60-80% Alkaline-forming foods every day will require that you eat a wide variety of different vegetables and fruits over the course of a day. This ratio does leave you room for acid-forming foods that you may like. A few veggies and fruits are acid-forming. All meats are acid-forming as is most dairy. Grains such as wheat, barley, and rye are acid-forming and as with all acid-forming foods should not make up any more than 40% of your diet. Ever. Eating more than 40% acid-forming foods causes un-needed stress on the body.

fresh veggies and fruit help to maintain beautiful skin.

Eat 60-80% alkaline-forming foods (or 20-40% acid-forming foods) to help your people repair itself with the nutrients that only nature could prepare for us. Eating a skin care diet of fresh raw green leafy veggies a couple of times a day will help your body to repair damaged skin cells and along with drinking plenty of fresh water. Water is often overlooked in the nutritional equation and you should drink it often throughout the day. Aim for 100 ounces of water a day if you weigh more than 200 pounds.

Alkaline-forming foods are nutrient-dense: Most fresh fruits, nearly all fresh vegetables, dark green leafy vegetables, almonds, millet, sprouts, raw apple cider vinegar. These foods provide you with the nutrients and alkaline diet benefits that nature intended for you to eat.

Make Acid-forming foods no more than 40% of your everyday diet: bread, cake, cereals, crackers, pasta, grains, legumes, vinegar, meat, seafood and fish, nuts, seeds, and tofu. Alcoholic drinks, sugars, gluten, coffee, processed foods, artificial sweeteners, dairy, refined fats and deep-fried food should be kept to a minimum as they promote Inflammation in the body.

Eating fats mean that you should try to always eat healthy foods and natural oils that will make your skin healthier and more youthful looking. Avoid any processed or refined fats such as the ones found at your local grocery store. Lean toward using coconut oil or Extra virgin olive oil when preparing meals. Consuming a diet high in Omega 3 fats is also good for your skin. Humans should eat a diet lower in omega 6 fats and higher in omega 3 fats. Look for omega 3 fats in cold water fish, flaxseed oil or algae oil. These good fats along with nutrient-rich foods and adequate water daily should put you well on your way to having the healthy skin that you so most desire! An Alkaline diet plan can produce clearer skin and healthy hair

Alkaline Diet vs Paleo Diet: Is There a Difference?

Eating a diet high in processed starches and highly refined cooking oils can lead to Inflammation, obesity and some degree of blood sugar problems. Any diet that encourages the consumption of natural whole foods over eating a diet high in processed starches and refined oils is a diet that I would prefer to follow. The processed starches that are at the core of carbohydrate addiction are also fueling a type 2 diabetes problem that has gotten way out of control. The sweeteners that we added into our foods (especially High Fructose corn syrup) is making the calorie count high without any real nutritional value. So it appears to me that we need to eat more whole veggies, fruits and organic meat while avoiding grains, refined oils/fats and anything with added sugar. This kind of healthy eating falls into the category of Paleo dieting. And it also falls under the heading of Alkaline diet.

The Paleo diet is about eating food that early man would have eaten prior to learning how to cultivate his food. Foods that could be hunted, picked from a tree or bush and anything that grew above the ground is fair game in this style of eating. Many people think that this is a meat based diet that requires that you eat tons of animal flesh but it doesn’t have to be that way. You can eat a small amount of meat or no meat at all if you desire. Cave dwelling people of early times had to make due with nuts, berries, wild fruits and veggies between productive hunting trips. Now on the other hand, if you want to gorge on lean meats and only a handful of veggies, well that is your choice. The important part of this is that you will learn to live without added sugar, sweeteners, grains, rice, corn and unhealthy junk fillers like tapioca starch and corn flour.

Much has been written over the years about the great things associated with eating a diet high in Alkaline foods. There is a myth that you have to eat ONLY alkaline foods while eating this diet but that is NOT true. The aim is to eat 60-80% of your food in the form of alkaline-forming foods. Alkaline-forming foods leave an alkaline residue after digestion. That is what determines if a food is acid-forming or alkaline-forming. Some foods can be acid before digestion but become alkaline-forming during the digestive process. This is the case with many citrus fruits. An abundance of vegetables in your diet has a very cleansing effect on your colon and your bowels may be a little “loose” in the beginning of your high plant food diet. Eating a diet high in alkaline-forming foods means that you will be digesting a lot of veggies and fruits with a handful of acid-forming foods (like meats or dairy) to balance it out. Remember that 70% of your food should be alkaline-forming every day.

A grain based diet has been connected with many ailments and inflammatory-related diseases over the years. There is a major movement going on today against the consumption of wheat and other grain products sold commercially. It seems that grains like wheat, barley, rye and corn are major contributers to the Inflammation problem in America. Grains contain Phytic Acid, a mineral blocker that prevents absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron, copper and zinc. Phytic acid is found in the bran of grains and is not a good option for humans to consume. If the grains were allowed to sprout properly, there would be an increase in the nutrient density of the plant and the sprouting process would also break down the phytic acid. Unfortunately, grains today are not sprouted and are consumed around the world in larger quantities than has ever been seen in the history on mankind.

The following recipe was discovered at Holdthegrain.com. They are a Paleo site and appears to be quite popular among those who follow the happenings in the Paleo diet world. The author, who goes by the name Tess (learn more) is a college student who saw her physical ailments begin to disappear as she eliminated grains from her diet.

You can make your own personal tweaks to a simple recipe like this oneI guess you could eliminate the chicken and replace it with more veggies of your choice, if you choose to eat meat-free alkaline meals. But for meat-eaters, Paleo is the way to go!

Classic Chicken Soup

Author: Hold the Grain

Prep time: 5 mins

Cook time: 6 hours

Total time: 6 hours 5 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 (4 pound) whole chicken
  • 2 Stalks celery, diced
  • 16 Ounces frozen carrots
  • 1 Onion, diced
  • Water (almost a full gallon)
  • 16 Ounces frozen broccoli
  • 1 Cup frozen peas
  • ½ Tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 Heaping teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley to garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse the chicken and remove the giblets. Place the whole chicken in the bottom of large stock pot. Add in the carrots, celery and onion.
  2. Add enough water to cover the chicken. I use just shy of a full gallon. Cover the pot and bring to a low boil. Reduce to low and let cook for about 4-6 hours. I like to leave it on throughout most of the afternoon to give the stock a really deep flavor.
  3. Use a pair of tongs to remove the chicken to a large bowl. The chicken will fall apart into many pieces, so you’ll want to fish around to find any bones that fell back into the soup. Separate the chicken meat from the bones, and shred it before returning it to the pot. Don’t throw those bones away! You can store them in the freezer to make bone broth later.
  4. Add the broccoli, peas, thyme and turmeric powder to the pot and stir to combine. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Cook covered just long enough to soften the broccoli and peas, between 25-50 minutes.
  6. Serve garnished with fresh parsley!

meats and veggies together are a healthy fat burning meal.

Both the Alkaline diet and the Paleo diet frown on the eating of grains, grasses and the seeds of grasses. William Davis, the renowned author of the Wheat Belly phenomenom speaks often of the dangers of eating a diet including wheat, rice and corn. Wheat consumption is associated with obesity, Type 2 diabetes and hypertension among a host of other ailments. Eating a wide variety of veggies and fruits everyday can help get your body off the wild ride of hormonal imbalances, blood sugar spikes and sky-high blood pressure readings. Grains like wheat and barley cause blood sugar spikes that that cause the release of insulin. Insulin secretion is an important part of the Endocrine system as it is used for storing nutrients and sugars found in the in the bloodstream. The insane amount of starches and sugars that we eat today put a serious strain on the body as we try to handle so much insulin being secreted. People who have chosen to avoid grains have gotten control of obesity and blood sugar control problems in a way that they hadn’t seen in quite some time. Take advantage of the Healing effects of a diet high in Alkaline foods!

Eating Alkaline foods while pregnant can be a positive move for you and your baby. Alkaline-forming foods are high in the phytonutrients, minerals, and vitamins needed to keep our health and Immune response in the best condition possible. A diet of more than 80% alkaline foods is not advisable because you need balance in your choices of foods to optimize all the functions that it has to perform daily. A growing baby needs the highest quality nutrients that a mother can provide as to ensure healthy growth. The foods that can keep an adult healthy are also the same foods that can be eaten to keep a pregnant mother and her soon-to-be newborn well fed and disease-free.

LEARN ABOUT THE BENEFITS OF AN ALKALINE DIET

Avoiding the unhealthy fats used in deep frying is something that you need to be aware of. You don’t want to give too much of this fat to your unborn child while in such a crucial stage of their development. Achieving a proper balance between Omega 6 fats and Omega 3 fat is important as your baby needs both fats for proper development. People in America eat a diet extremely high in Omega 6 fats and processed sugars. The result of this is a Type 2 diabetes problem along with an Obesity problem that is killing hundreds of thousands of people every year. Omega 3 fats are needed for the brain development of your baby and will help make you healthier too! Aim for a 50-50 balance of the two fats but being a little heavier on omega 3 consumption would be better. Most baked goods are high in omega 6 fats. This includes cakes, crackers, cookies, honey buns and fruit pies.

The backbone of your Alkaline diet while pregnant should be the consumption of green leafy vegetables. The parts of the plant that absorb the light of the sun are the healthiest parts of the plant for you to eat. Vegetables contain an assortment of antioxidants and other disease-fighting phytonutrients. Some plant nutrients can reduce inflammation and reduce the risks of developing cancer while others assist in helping cells to reproduce and maintain DNA. Eating a diet high in biologically active phytonutrients along with healthy fats can help to maximize you and your baby’s health while contributing to the best possible nutritional scenario for the development of a new life. Eating An Alkaline Diet For The Holidays

LIKE on Facebook     FOLLOW on Twitter

Eating a clean alkaline diet during the holiday season can be tough for some but for others, it just like any other time of year. The great thing about eating 75% of your diet as alkaline foods means that you have 25% of your diet to fit in your favorite holiday “sin” foods. Cut yourself a little slack and enjoy this time of year and remember that moderation is the rule to follow. If you stick to the 75% alkaline food daily routine, you will be just fine during the season. Eating clean means that a little junk every now and then is not going to be enough to effect your health.

The tough problem that I personally deal with is my love for good cake. And cookies. I really try to keep my grain consumption very low to the point of not eating wheat, rice or corn for days at a time. I feel much better for it. It gives me better control of my blood sugar and waistline so grains are a no-no. But on the other hand I have a love for Italian cream cake, sweet potato pie and rum cake that I should really check into a rehab facility to get treated. Thanks to 75% alkaline food rule, I can eat a little cake (or pie) everyday as long as I consume an abundant boatload of veggies, fruits and nuts to meet my nutritional requirements. Oh, for those of you who may not know: macaroni and cheese is not a vegetable!

I find that most people who eat a pH balanced diet don’t really struggle with food choice issues. You must focus on eating a wide variety of alkaline veggies and fruits every day and the rest of the eating style takes care of itself. It is really hard to eat a lot of “bad” things when the majority of your diet is so full of healthy foods!

Alkaline Diet Can Reduce Low Grade Inflammation

Like on Facebook  Follow on Twitter

Eating a diet high in Alkaline foods is beneficial to your overall health picture. When eaten every day, this popular eating style gain reverse low-level inflammation, feed your cells, increase elimination of waste and strengthen your immune defense system. Many of those who are eating an alkaline diet claim fat loss and increased energy as a couple of the reasons why we should eat more veggies and fruits. These are just a handful of the many ways that eating an alkaline diet can change your life and your health. In this article, I would like to touch on several ways that you can use pH balance to better your quality of life.

Reducing low-level inflammation is important for those who are obese or diseased. This inflammation is caused by the foods that we eat that are classified as pro-inflammatory. Foods that reduce inflammation are referred to as anti-inflammatory. Foods such as wheat, dairy and refined fats are acid-forming and are considered pro-inflammatory. They can be a problem if eaten in abundance. Eliminate foods that are high in Omega 6 fats if you want to reduce the inflammation related to cardiovascular disease. This includes most fried foods. The same goes for refined wheat (If you just gotta eat wheat then eat it in the form of 100% whole wheat but my personal choice is to avoid it). Your body reacts to these foods by releasing compounds that cause the inflammation to happen. Avoiding these foods can help cool the inflammation that causes long term damage.

A diet high in vegetables, beans, fruits and nuts can establish the foundation of a diet that can help slow or reverse diseases such as heart disease, obesity and Type 2 diabetes. Most of these foods are alkaline-forming foods and contribute heavily towards fighting inflammation. If you are a meat eater and want to reduce inflammation in the body then you should look into replacing some of your red meat meals with Omega 3-rich fish protein from a cold water source. Wild salmon, mackerel, herring and sardines come to mind. People who may want a vegan source of omega 3 may want to look into algae oil supplements. My favorite source is walnuts which I snack on throughout the day. Dark green leafy vegetables are a vegetable source that also contains measurable amounts of omega 3 fats. This leafy food is one that you should eat several times a day every day for its nutritious mineral and vitamin content.

Anti-Inflammatory Veggie soup

Natural Ingredients:

  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • garlic cloves, chopped
  • 3-inch piece ginger, chopped
  • 2 teaspoons cumin
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon sage
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper or more to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 4 tomatoes, diced
  • 3 stalks celery, cut in ¼-inch slices
  • Juice of one lemon
  • 1/2 cup cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons of olive oil
  1. Heat the coconut oil in a large pot and add the onion, garlic and ginger. Sauté until golden brown. Add the cumin, thyme, sage and turmeric powder. Stir-fry for one minute. Add cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Stir-fry for another 2 minutes.
  2. Stir in the water, red pepper, tomatoes, quinoa, celery, and 1/2 cup cilantro. Bring to a boil over high heat then reduce to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.
  3. Stir in the lemon juice and serve. Sprinkle with more salt or cayenne pepper to taste! I like to use walnuts as a topping for healthy soups like this one but then I just like walnuts!

What you will come to know over time is that if you eat a plant based diet of low glycemic foods and eat it consistently then you will be eating an alkaline diet. This kind of eating style burns away excess body fat while encouraging healing and slow any development of disease. An alkaline diet helps your body to maintain proper pH balance more easily than someone who eats a diet high in acid-forming foods. A diet abundant in alkaline foods is high in fiber which can make waste elimination normal while feeding your body the minerals and phytonutrients that it needs to optimize your metabolic functions. Eat Alkaline and heal your body naturally!

An Alkaline Diet is Plant-Based Nutrition

Like on Facebook  Follow on Twitter  Google+

Unless you have been living in a cave in the Himalayans for the past 10 years, there is NO way that you could not know that a plant based diet is SOOO much better for your health than a diet based on animal products. Your odds of developing heart disease, cancer, obesity and pre-diabetes drop dramatically when a vegan style diet is eaten consistently. There have been dozens upon dozens of books written to back up these claims with testimonials and research studies that will keep you reading for months. The bottom line is that you MUST eat a diet high in whole veggies, fruits, nuts and beans. Eating processed foods devoid of naturally formed nutrients can ultimately leach the life from your body over the years. To keep young and nourished, you must eat the type of foods that provide your body with REAL nutrition.

While being vegan would be the best way to feed your body, many people just want to eat a little meat and dairy ever so often. That’s what makes an Alkaline diet so interesting! When you eat a diet of 60-80% alkaline foods, it leaves room for some of the acid foods that you have grown to love over the years. Acid foods like steak, hamburgers and fried chicken can be eaten while eating an alkaline diet. If you want to eat grains like wheat (which is acid) then you can do that too. Just remember to keep it within the range allowed for acid foods. And if you want to eat vegan then by all means DO IT! You will probably be eating alkaline without even trying.

plant based nutrition, the way forward!

written by: The Pandorian

When Bill Clinton mentioned a book, published by an obscure Texan Publisher, written by a father and son research team, the results of a series of research studies based in China and Taiwan, who could have predicted that this academic text ‘The China Studywould become one of the best selling books on nutrition?

T Colin Campbell PhD and Thomas M Campbell wrote the book as a compilation of their research in a 20 year partnership between Cornell and Oxford Universities and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine. They managed to illustrate that a high consumption of animal-based foods was definitely linked to the development of more chronic diseases in humans, and the healthiest subjects consumed in the main, a plant-based diet.

But, back to Bill Clinton, whose surgery had not fixed the problem of his clogged arteries and veins. He read a few books, he consulted with world experts. He lost 24 lbs and announced he had an answer. He did not use the dirty word. You know the one which begins with V and ends in N. No, it’s not VAIN, but started to talk about Plant Based Nutrition (PBN). That’s when so many of us began to take notice. Not because of any political leanings, but because here was a man to whom resources were not an issue and without moral indignation of anyone else’s choices or behaviour, he had discovered the scientific proof of what many of us knew and he came to it willingly to give himself better health. He began to promote it as common sense. As part of an awakening to whole planet, its resources and our responses to those resources.

Today, it’s easy to find a plethora of documentaries like ‘Forks Over Knives’ crying from the rooftops of the benefits of plant based nutrition.

Sadly, many new-age info docudramas also include claims which cannot be substantiated. Sure your risk of cancer and heart disease may be diminished through this type of nutrition, but nothing accounts for genetic dispositions and stress triggers… But the questions are out there. Does plant based nutrition really help you lose weight, make diabetes disappear or reverse poor bone density?

For many of course, plant based nutrition is not just about the body but involves the sense of wanting to protect a fragile Eco system or involves a paradigm shift which inevitably spills into other areas of their lives.

But what are the benefits?

The medical evidence shows that consuming ‘whole food plant based’ nutrition can reverse many diseases: inflammation, anxiety, depression, Lupus, MS, Diabetes, Osteoporosis to name but a few. The China study surveyed 6500 people in total, from more than 65 countries. It is still the most comprehensive study done on nutrition and it’s hard to argue with it. Not only can plant based nutrition maintain health but it can also act like medicine and change health.

The science base is very strong that fruits and vegetables are protective for all the gastrointestinal cancers and all the smoking-related cancers,” says Tim Byers, professor of preventive medicine at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver.

Plant based nutrition keeps it all flowing, if you know what I mean. You’ll soon have no need for laxatives in the cupboard because constipation will be a thing of the past.

Fruit and vegetables are hydrating foods and as a result, skin glows, spots and acne clear up or improve greatly. Everyone loves having a healthy clear complexion and as your skin is the largest organ in the body, it’s important.

Plant based nutrition actually gives you more energy and often improves sleep patterns. However it is critically important to know what you are eating, to educate yourself and not just live on iceberg and tomatoes. Plant based nutrition is nutrient rich and calorifically low. It’s not about weight, it’s about clean fuel, clean energy for humans.

Whether you choose plant based nutrition because you want to improve your health or because you want to protect animals, the bonus, the end result will always be a healthier, happier body. If the body is not healthy, the brain does not function efficiently. Our suggestion is to allow yourself the courage to accept possibility and in that simple concept, embrace this way of eating, and enjoy the benefits. Of course, if your feel that you can’t do without your meat or fish, why not make the rest of your meal plant based? The benefits are long term and now, scientifically recorded. What have you got to lose, except perhaps a few pounds and either prevent niggle health issues, or get some relief for any you might have developed?

As always, it goes without saying that organic/homegrown produce will always be better for the body and mind as there will be no toxins used. But, if you are worried about pesticides on your fruit and vegetables soak them in a bowl of water and white vinegar for an hour before rinsing to reduce any residues.

This is a time of information, but knowledge comes from the application of information. Enjoy building your knowledge and apply these points to your life choices. We have, and the benefits to our lives come daily.

The astonishing concentration of vitamin A carotenoids in cruciferous vegetables and their unusually high content of vitamin C and manganese are clearly key components in their growing reputation as an antioxidant vegetable group. The high vitamin K content of most cruciferous vegetables especially kale and collards has an amazing effect on cancer and inflammation.

Avoid eating processed fats such as the ones used to deep fry foods. These omega 6 fats cause inflammation in the body and should never be consumed in large doses. Eat less omega 6 fats and more omega 3 fats. To reduce the amount of fat in your diet, try cooking vegetables using water instead of oil. Veggies that have been steamed or boiled taste good and should be seasoned with your favorite spices. If you insist on using oil, use a small amount of coconut oil or virgin olive oil rather than margarine or other processed fats. There have been links made between the consumption of processed fats and the development of Type 2 diabetes. Most commercially-used oils  made for deep frying all those french fries, doughnuts and southern style chicken can just barely call itself natural or vegetable oils.

Make a practice of learning to add new vegetables regularly into your diet. There are tens of thousands of vegetables and fruits that are grown around the world that most of us have not tried and they are healthy and healing to eat. Eating proper nutrition is needed to sustain a healthy body. Using an Alkaline food chart to help you plan your meals is a exceptional idea. A diet of 60 – 80% alkaline foods is a great foundation to follow if your goal is to obtain healthy longevity, lose weight and be happy for the rest of your life. Slow the development of Type 2 diabetes with a low grain vegan diet that is high in Alkaline foods
